    Supply chain risk management strategies on operational Efficiency of non-governmental organizations in Nairobi County

    Despite the significant contributions of NGOs towards social, economic, and environmental improvements, many have struggled with inefficiencies therefore the study seeks to assess the effect of supply chain risk management strategies on operational efficiency in NGOs in Nairobi County. Specifically, the study sought to determine the effect of supply chain risk identification strategy, supply chain risk assessment strategy, supply chain risk monitoring and supply chain risk mitigation strategy on operational efficiency among NGOs in Nairobi County. The study was anchored on the agency theory, contingency theory, system theory and resource-based view theory. The study adopted a descriptive research design. The unit of analysis were NGOs within Nairobi. The unit of observation were supply chain manager, procurement officer and store manager in each of the 40 targeted NGOs therefore, the total target population was 120 respondents. Since the study population is manageable the study adopted census to include all the 120 targeted respondents. The study used primary data collected through closed-ended questionnaire. Before the main study the study conducted a pilot study in the neighboring Kiambu County where 12 questionnaires were distributed to supply chain manager, procurement officer and store manager in 4 NGOs. The collected data was quantitative in nature and was analyzed through the aid of SPSS Version 25. Data was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. After analysis the findings was presented in form of tables. From the findings the study concluded that there is no significant relationship between supply chain risk identification strategy and operational efficiency among NGOs in Nairobi. In addition, the study concluded that supply chain risk assessment strategy had a positive and statistically significant influence on operational efficiency among NGOs in Nairobi, Furthermore the study concluded that supply chain risk monitoring strategy had a positive and statistically significant effect on operational efficiency among NGOs in Nairobi, Finally the study concluded that supply chain risk mitigation strategy had a positive and statistically significant effect on operational efficiency among NGOs in Nairobi. From the conclusion the study recommended that NGOs should develop comprehensive risk response frameworks that are activated immediately after risks are identified. Furthermore, the study recommended that NGOs should invest in advanced monitoring systems that provide timely data on potential disruptions. The researcher recommended that a comparative study should be conducted on the effectiveness of supply chain risk management strategies between NGOs and Public Sector Institutions in Kenya.
