The current study therefore seeks to assess how risk management strategies influence the success of community water projects in Kajiado County, Kenya. The specific objectives of the study are; To determine how project risk identification affects the success of community water projects, to establish how project risk analysis influences the success of community water projects and to ascertain the effect of project risk response and monitoring on the success of community water projects in Kajiado County, Kenya. The research is anchored on contingency and prospect theories targeting a population of 140 donor funded water projects. The study adopts a descriptive research design, purposive and random sampling technique will be used to achieve a sample of 217 respondents determined through use of Slovin’s formula. Data will be collected through use of a self-administered questionnaire, analysed using both descriptive and inferential statistics and presented using tables. It is expected the study findings will find use among researchers, policy makers and community management committee members. From the model summary, risk identification, risk analysis and risk monitoring & response are all capable of explaining the variances in project success with remaining been accounted for by additional variables that were not taken into consideration when developing this model. In light of this, the model achieved statistical significance. The regressions results showed that project risk identification had significant positive beta coefficient. Based on result, it was concluded that improved risk identification would result to improved success of water projects in Kajiado County, Kenya. Additionally, the research findings showed that risk analysis had significant positive beta coefficient. Similary, a conclusion was made that improved risk analysis would result to improved success of water projects in Kajiado County, Kenya. Lastly, risk monitoring and response had significant positive beta coefficient. A conclusion was made that improved risk monitoring and response would result to improved success of water projects in Kajiado County, Kenya. According to the descriptive statistics, it was shown that the community water project did not adhere to the allocated budget effectively. This study recommends that the management of different water projects fast track the implementation of different project to ensure they operate within budgets. Also, 0f the three independent variables; Risk identification, Risk analysis and Risk monitoring/Response, Risk identification had greatest effect on success of water projects in Kajiado County.
